    physX config...

hi all....... after sitting here looking at the 8800GT i had that was spare, i finally decided to chuck it in for physX & see what happens....
    physX config...-gte.jpg
    physX config...-gtes.jpg

all went well....., but after running vantage i appear to have lost 400 points..??

my PSU is a cheapie, £20 shipped , i actually had to add 2 molex connections to the PSU to get the 8800 running , my PSU is 600W with a 30A 12v & she appears to be running just fine, (im surprised its running at all) but could it be holding down the score..?? i also ran 3dmark06 & it was the fastest run ever, the fps was tipping 102fps in a good few places, yet my score was still low..?? (strange)

    im running 181.22

it could be just too powerful for physX (if thats possible), im gonna buy a 9500GT or 8600GT & a new PSU & see which config will improve my score...

I think you defiantly want to upgrade that PSU before you look at anything else, that would be struggling with just the GTX260 never mind with a 8800 as well.

    Hey Skunksmash,
I have been toying with the same idea but with everything that i have read i cannot figure out if it improves anything other than games that utilize physx. I don't play any of those games. Am i missing something here? I am only running one 260gtx at the time but i too have a 8800gt sitting on the shelf.
I would up my power supply first if i were you. I like the 850watt myself.

I'm running the GF 260 and the Physx games are amazing. If you haven't played one why not download a demo! :)

New PSU ordered ..... Corsair HX620, £102 , but 50A on the 12v should be enough for both cards..

if i still show a drop in score, with the new PSU, i will sell the 8800 & grab a 9500GT

i think the 8800 is being choked for power, when i run anything intensive, i can hear a flickering coming from the card that i've never heard before....

I WILL GET PHYSX TO SHOW AN IMPROVEMENT!!!!

Are you sure that a 9500 will perform better than a 8800, I think if your really going to get a performance increase it will be with something more like a 9800 at the least.

I cant be sure of anything from this point on, its all uncharted ground....lol, all i've had to go by is various benches

the only reason i say a 9500GT is b/c ppl use these & show an improvement, in theory the 8800 will work better than the 9500 but until i can rule out a power drain i cant confirm it.....
