Truly unknown device can't be found anywhere--what to do

Device Manager has an unknown device listed. I used Unknown DeviceIdentifier 8.0 and other search methods and this is what I got:

    Windows Device Manager
Device type: Universal Serial Bus Controller
    Manufacturer: Standard USB Controller
    Under Details I found:
    Location Port: Port_#0002.Hub.#0004
    Driver Provider: Microsoft
    Driver Date: 6/21/2006
    Driver version:6.1.7601.17586
    Physical Device object name: \Device\USBPDO-6
    Device Instance path: USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&29E6B3C2&0&2
    Parent: USB\VID_8087&PID_0020\5&203162ce&0&1
    Container ID: {228ca907-7860-11e2-8dc0-806e6f6e6963}
    Driver node strong name: usb.inf:Generic.Section.NTamd64:BADDEVICE.Dev:6.1.7601.17586:usb\unknown

Unknown DeviceIdentifier 8.0 lists it as:
    Unknown device
    Vendor Microsoft
    PropID: usb\unknown

From another website I did a Google search for USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&29E6B3C2&0&2 and produced no results. I then went to: the PCI database website and still no results.
Considering that everything points to Microsoft I find this odd and don't know what i should do about it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hello pintree,

The device is your "Universal Serial Bus Controller".

You should be able to install the USB driver from your computer manufacturer's download page for your computer's specific model number.

If you like, post back what brand and model your PC is, and we'll see if we can help find the USB driver for it. :)

That doesn't say what model number your Asus PC is, but for the motherboard listed in it, you could try the NEC 1.0.19.0 USB drivers at the link below. You would click on the "Download" tab, select your OS (W7 64-bit), click on "USB", then download and install the driver.

    Hi once again thanks

Hi I know it doesn't say "what model number (my) Asus PC'' is. Sorry for not making that clear. It is not an Asus PC it is not any PC. I went to a store that sells and assembles computers based on parts wanted--this motherboard with that video card and those memory sticks etc. etc. hence no name As to the NEK i know that installing the wrong drivers are risky, so would you mind if I asked how sure you are of the ones you suggested? Also why can't Windows (especially seeing the microsoft connection of the drivers,) seem to read what it should?

    Thanks again

Ok. That would make sense then. The link I posted above is for your motherboard, so you will be able to use them. :)

Thanks again for you continuing help; In double checking what I have, there is a shortcut on my start menu for the usb controller that is currently there, it so happens to be, interesting enough, the exact same thing u r suggesting I download, the NEC. Question now remains, since that is already installed then -a- is windows thinking/referring to another USB -b- if not then why am I getting this 'unknown device" reading?

I've noticed a USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver V2.0.4.0 available under Utilities at the same driver download link above that you might install to see if that may be it.

thanks again. I went to ur link and all i saw was my model number being displayed and nothing else.
Eventually I ended up here: SUPPORT where I put my model number etc. It took me here: ASUS - - ASUS P7P55D-E LX ON this page there were all sorts of stats from various parts such as:

CPU, Chipset and Graphics features, Memory Features, Future Transfer Technology etc.
Nothing and I mean nothing was linkable or downloadable here. I tried again and again even using dfferent browsers. It appears as if something is wrong with the site since the original start point of this page is supposed to be for downloads. Hmmm!!??

At this link, you should be able to click on Download, select your OS (W7 64-bit), and expand Utilities to see it.
