Windows 7: Phantom Floppy

Phantom Floppy

I don't have a floppy drive connected to the ASUS P5Q motherboard, yet, both Win7 and my old XP insist on listing it in both Windows Explorer, and device manager.

Disabling and/or removing it only results in New Hardware found on the next boot.

Any ideas?

In your BIOS, disable the floppy drive.

Phantom Floppy Drive
So I just updated to 7229 and I noticed that there's a floppy drive showing up now, which is odd since I don't have one installed. I found a few others with this incident, however the only responses I saw were all suggestions that it might be the BIOS. Well I knew that wasn't the issue for me,...

Would anyone know why Windows 7 lists "Floppy Disk Drive A:" in the list with Devices With Removable Storage when I don't have a floppy disk drive of any sort - and could I remove it from being shown ? Thanks Glenn.
