Make external cd/dvd drive the default drive.

Hello good people of the forum:

Firstly, let me say a big thank you to the folks who posted birthday wishes. As Kitty Kallen sung: "Little Things Mean a Lot."

    Now, on to my issue.

Yesterday I received my brand new and shiny Memorex External DVD Recorder. My internal recorder will not burn DVD video disks and it will not recpgnize a blank DVD. Everything else is just fine. If I format for a data disk, it will recognize it and let me burn to it. Since over the years this is the third burner that has gone south on me. I decided to go with a more pricey exteral drive.

My problem is I would like to know how to set up my new drive as the default drive. Right now when I attempt to burn a video disk my internal drive swings into action, opens the drive, informs me there's no disk in the drive, and shuts down.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Powell Lucas

I would think that was software dependent. What burning software are you using? In Nero it remembers the last drive used, and you can choose a drive from a drop down.

You can also use IMGBurn -- it's free to download, and like other burning apps, it remembers the last physical drive you used.
