Please name Printer compatible with W 7 Ultimate Hello Everyone,
I have moved from W 7 Home Premium to W 7 Ultimate.
I have had an HP desktop 2050 for about 3 years without problem.
I can no longer print a job with page borders.
I have literally tried EVERY combination of borders available in MS Word 2010 and also using Open Office.
Each time I have the message that the "page borders are outside the printable area."
I have downloaded the most recent drivers and still can not print without this message. If I decide to print, then a portion of the border is compromised.
As a 'last ditch' effort I post this question here, in the hope that someone has knowledge of this problem, before I consign the printer to a dark and forgotten place and purchase a printer that is compatible with Ultimate and - probably - from a different maker.
Regards

Hi Colin,
This isn't an Ultimate problem, or even a Windows 7 problem, but rather you need to look at the page layout/paper sizes/border sizes in Word itself.
Your printer is definately supported under all versions of Windows 7 - note that there is no such thing as "Ultimate compatibility".

The version of Windows does not differentiate with printers. Thus the problem is not the OS but somewhere else, either the Printer drivers, a configuration in the printer setup or within Word. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

What Golden and Fireberd said.
Have you downloaded and installed the driver/utility package from HP? You'd probably need that to use all of the features of the printer. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number homegrown OS Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1 CPU Intel Core I7-3930k Motherboard Asus P9X79 Pro Memory 16 GB Gskill DDR3-2133 Graphics Card eVGA GTX680 Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium Monitor(s) Displays As PA246Q Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Keyboard cheap Logitech USB Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (old optical) USB PSU PCP&C Silencer 750 Crossfire Case Silverstone FT02 Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives Corsair Force GT, 120 GB

Hello Everyone, especially GOLDEN; FIREBERD and BOBKN,
Once again, thank you all for trying to assist me.
My original post was to find a way to be able to print borders with Windows 7. Ultimate and an HP 2050 deskjet printer. I enter the following information which may be of assistance to anyone who has the same problem.
On the PAGE LAYOUT page, click on PAGE BORDERS under the PAGE BACKGROUND Group.
On the PAGE BORDER tab click on OPTIONS.
In the little box with MEASURE FROM click the down-pointing arrow and click on TEXT.
Set the the default points in the margin area to 10 points.
Click OK, on both pages.
With this adjustment, I have been able to print borders!
(PS: I do not know how to set this as a DEFAULT - but I'm happy knowing that I can adjust the page to print borders now!!)
Regards
