M57U Graphics issue Geforce Go 6800

I wonder if anyone can help. I have bought an Clevo M57U with a duff graphics card, and also an apparently compatible graphics card from an Alienware M7700. The interface is proprietary and apparently the M57U is the last model to use it before Clevo switched to MXM format.
Anyway the computer boots with the replacement card but the initial boot screen is too big for the actual lcd, and when it boots into windows, not only does the screen overlap massively, it wraps around on the left hand side.
I've attached pictures to show you what I mean. The camera juddered, but its the resolution I'm concerned about.
Is the card duff, or does the vbios need flashing to suit the model it now resides in or what else can you suggest?

Yes tried that. As you can see, it's from the first "Sager" splash screen on, before windows boots. Changing the resolution doesn't make any difference to the effect.

Ok tried that. No difference. The recommended setting is 2000x1536 and that's what it's running at. All resolutions are the same effect. I really think it's a video bios issue, as the effect is carried through from the initial boot screen, before windows kicks in.

Hi there sorry to resurrect this. But I am still befuddled. I finally managed to get a second replacement card at an acceptable price (took ages, they are like hen's teeth), and put it in. The problem duplicates with the replacement replacement! I am left with the conclusion that there is something weird going on with the screen itself. I've not seen anything like it before. (Unless both cards have the exact same fault, and I don't think even I'm that unlucky). Does anyone have any fresh thoughts?

Having had three graphics cards in, and as an unwelcome by product Windows 7 now thinks it is no longer genuine too! There are ways round that. Wish there was around this screen thing.
