For a few days now my computer has been experiencing a weird issue. seemingly at random, my mouse and keyboard won't be able to interact with the computer. this happens for a few seconds and then everything is ok for about another 10 minutes. it has been progressively gotten worse freezing for longer and longer periods. during the freeze anything that would have happened (i.e. letters typed. mouse movement and clicks) is put on hold. when the freeze ends, everything that should have happened happens. so if it freezes and i move the mouse around, when it unfreezes the mouse cursor will fly along the path that it would have traveled and ends where is should have been. i've looked at the event viewer and can see no relation between freezes and any errors recorded there. i have been looking at the resource monitor and there does seem to be a problem, or at least i assume it's a problem. My hard drive's active time is constantly fluctuating dropping to zero, jumping to 100, then droping back down to somewhere around 15. it seems like something is wrong but i don't know if that's just normal stuff happening. i've seen many forum posts with problems much like mine but none that have solutions. i am running a 64-bit version of windows 7 on a custom built rig with an Intel i5 2500k processor, 8 gigs of ddr3 ram, and an nvidia geforce gtx560 ti graphics card.
looking at my resource monitor more it seems that it may be connected to my hard drive. the hard disk's active time held at 100% for a few seconds and at that same time the freezing occurred. if that is the problem, what's the solution? would i have to buy a new hard drive or is there a file or something that i need to edit or delete?
