Dear OP, I'd also disable autorun (autoplay) completely, details here: [starts off with... a lot of malware is spread via autorun, ya think?!? ]

Disable Autorun / Autoplay In Windows 7

Sometimes the USB checker within Windows 7 has been sluggish too, my motherboard came with a specific driver/tool, that could be hosed and mess things up too, although obviously u have malware.

My malware line of defense, is that Malwarebytes product, Spyware Blaster, and Spybot: Search and Destroy, all have a free non-active/non-monitoring component/version you can use.

Never mind guys, I brought to a PC repair shop, they reformatted my HDD on my PC, it got tons of problems like BSOD and other things, I gave a reputation to jumanji and cottonball, my PC now can detect my HDD and it has no more shortcut virus. If you don't believe me, here's a pic:

Its OK, if that keeps you happy.

I am just interested in seeing how your external HDD looks like now. Just open it in WinRAR and post a screenshot of its contents, just to see whether all the unwanted stuff has been removed.

Rain08,

Each person has a 'comfort' level of their own. But, a format of the external HDD does not take care of a virus on the computer.

If it were my machine, would run RogueKiller, just do a Scan, and post the Results.txt.

Would also download: Security Check
http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/SecurityCheck.exe
Save it to the Desktop.

Right-click SecurityCheck.exe and select: Run as Administrator
Follow the onscreen instructions (on the black screen)

When done, a Notepad document opens automatically: checkup.txt

Please post the contents of checkup.txt in your reply.

I didn't reformat my external HDD, I reformatted my internal HDD because it had tons of problems like BSOD, not genuine windows message, and other things, after reformatting it, it's all fine for now™. I'm currently downloading updates and mass copying of files from external to internal HDD.

Hi cottonball,

The PC Repair Shop has only formatted his system HDD and reinstalled Windows.

That was why I was interested in looking into his external HDD. I wanted to see and confirm whether atleast the unnecessary and suspicious files have been removed.

I still want Rain08 to post the screenshot of his external HDD contents in WinRAR. Seems he has missed it.

Ah! Got it. The initial comment did not specify which drive.

An HP Pavilion P6640D probably has a Recovery partition, and the system can be brought back to factory defaults.

The RogueKiller report is clean.

If it were my machine, you better believe I would do that!

cottonball,

I also missed/misinterpreted quite a few things.

1. His screenshot at post# 32 does show that the HP Recovery partition is still there. So the PC Repair shop most probably restored it to the factory condition using that.

2. He did post the contents of his external HDD in Windows Explorer ( post #35) - not WinRAR

3. He does not seem to have run the RogueKiller with the external HDD connected.

Wouldn't it be better he runs it again with his external HDD connected? (Now he seems to be comfortable with RogueKiller. )

@jumanji,

Yes, running RogueKiller again with the external HDD connected is a good idea.

Please do so, Rain08.

Great, RK just killed "BFP4F.exe", just halfway trough the download and all of a sudden RK stopped it. Need to start again since it doesn't use ".tmp" files . Anyways here's the RK report and my drive with the WinRar, pre-scan and scanning it.
