Can't see external Hard drive
I have a Toshiba RD-XV45 DVD, VHS, Hard drive combi recorder. The DVD drive isn't working anymore and apparently can't be replaced as it's no longer available.
I have purchased an IDE|USB cable which I have attached to the hard drive (WD 1600BB Caviar) in the recorder and the USB to my Windows XP PC. Switched the recorder on but I can't see the hard drive. It did come up with Found new hardware and said something like ATA/ATAPI Bridge but now it doesn't as I ran the Setup file on the CD that came with the IDE|USB connector.
When I enter Disk Management I can see Disk 2 with 149.05 GB Unallocated. I have assigned the drive to G: but when I click on it it comes back with the option to format the drive which I don't want to do.
Can anyone help?
