    Freeze ups

I am writing on behalf of a mate who is haveing problems. He has Windows 7 and every time he goes to his home page the page freezes up. It takes a long time to get moving again and when he does it freezes up again. His computer works completely normal in all other areas, it is just his Internet connection or something. Can anybody come up with a suggestion, on what he could try to do?

We have many excellent tutorials here, written by some very knowledgeable people. Heres a tutorial to troubleshoot your friends internet connection.

    Internet Troubleshooting Guide

How much RAM does your friend have installed? Could that be a cause?

Originally his computer had 1 GB of Ram, and he had that increased to 2 GBs about 2 or 3 years ago. Everything has been normal until this trouble started about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I might add he is a bit over 80 and I am a bit under 80 so if anybody can help, please spell it out for us young fellas.

Are you saying it only happens on that one page? Does it ever happen anywhere else? If it is only that one page, do you mind telling us which one it is. I'll go there and see if it affects me.

Yes essenbe, it is only happening on one of our local newspaper websites, Perth Now | Breaking News from Perth and Western Australia | PerthNow.
I use the same home page a 1000 Kms away from him and have no problems. I really think it is a problem with his computer rather than the Internet. It could be just a couple of clicks away, but we don't know which clicks.

I went there and had no problems. But, I did notice that they use java script a lot on that page and sometimes people don't want to install it, or the drivers are old and don't work well. That is my only guess right now. Make sure he has his windows updates up to date. They update things like that and security updates also. But, honestly, I am at a loss of what to tell you. He may want to try the page with another browser and see if he has the same issues.
