    aspire 7741z cannot start windows

I had the same problem as many...same black screen with press f2 for set up in lower left so I was experimenting. I took my hard drive from my 5100 and put it in the 7741. It asked about starting windows in normal mode or doing the check of some kind. I did both options but it would not start, I got a flash of blue and then back to the same screen. Does this mean there are additional issues with the 7741 other than hard drive? if so, what could it be? There is nothing wrong with the 5100 hard drive, as I am typing on it now.

Hello Jenfifi and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm guessing that the 7741 and 5100 do not have the same hardware (memory, central processing unit, graphics card, etc.) The drivers on the 5100 hard drive most likely won't match the drivers that are needed for the 7741. (A driver is software that allows your computer to communicate with hardware or devices. Without the correct drivers, the hardware you connect to your computer—for example, a video card or a webcam and probably the hard drive itself—will not work properly.)

    What is a driver?

If the 7741 is having a startup issue, you could try going through the troubleshooting steps in this tutorial that was prepared by one of the Forum experts. It also includes hardware diagnostic steps in the Information box.

Don't swap drives in case of other hardware. The blue flash is a BSOD. So just what Marsmimar says. What are the real symptoms on sick machine? So put all back as it was and tell us what happens exactly
