Is it normal for this smell to be coming from my PC?

Okay, so anyone who read my last topic will know that I was planning on getting a new PC. Well, I have the new PC now.

It works great, beyond great, actually, but I have concerns about the liquid cooling fan.

I know it has to be working quite well, because even when running a high-resource demanding game on the highest resolution, I can put my hand on the top of the PC and it's actually a little bit below room temperature (despite the powerful hardware), my only concern is that it seems to be creating a bit of a smell.

It's nothing that smells like burning, or anything really bad, it's just this smell, I guess you could say it smells a little like oil (not sure how to describe it specifically), I'm just wondering if this is perfectly normal for a new water cooling fan to do, and it'll just go away after awhile, or if this is something serious.

I can't tell you it is serious or not. I really don't know exactly what you are smelling. But, I have had 2 closed loop water coolers in the past and neither smelled. Just check and make sure there are no leaks and that the pump is running 100%. That and noise is about all you can go by. If it is leaking, remove it from the case ASAP and RMA it.

It doesn't appear to be leaking, and after running some really demanding games that DID heat it up a little, the smell seems to have gone down a bit. So, I don't know.

I really don't know what to tell you except that neither of mine smelled, or I never noticed it. And it could be just fine. That would have to be your call. Leaks and the pump running right are the biggest concerns. Maybe the smell will burn off and it will be OK.

Yeah, the smell seems to have burned off now. Thanks for the help though! :)
