    Optical mouse stops working

I have a Logitech optical, wireless mouse that ceases to work after 5 miutes or so after I boot the computer. Here is what I have tried. One: if I start if safe mode, the problem doesn't exist and I can use the mouse for extended times. Two; I went on the Logitech web page and tried downloading the driver. A notice came up that I have a more recent copy of the driver. That is surely a funny response. Three, I tried a USB mouse and it failed to work when the optical mouse wasn't working. Four; I tried the wireless mose from my laptop and it exhibited the sam problem. I suspect it may an O/S problem. Any suggestions?

Retiredbill, sounds like you have a conflict. Try using CCleaner and clean your registry.

You might also try this for USB problems.

And a different USB port. If you use USB2.0, try a 3.0 if you have one.

I happen to have CCleaner on my machine so I ran it. I also have ASC and ran that as well. he problem is fixed. Thank you very much. Incidentally, I also put the mouse receiver into another USB port and that didn't work.

Great, glad you got it fixed. I'm curious what is ASC?
