External seagate 1tb harddrive not working with 3.0 usb slot.

As the title says, my new Seagate Expansion Portable Drive is not working in the 3.0 slots in the front of my computer. It only works when i plug it into one of my two 2.0 slots on the back of my computer, which are both occupied by my mouse and keyboard, both of them are not backwards compatible. When my Drive is plugged into a 3.0, absolutely nothing happens. i get a green light on the drive, but it does not show up in my bios or in "My Computer". Works perfectly fine in a 2.0 though.

My motherboard is made by gigabyte, and is only about 2 months old, and my drive is 5 months old.

Did you install the 3.0 drivers and enable it in the BIOS? All versions of USB are backwards compatible.

The gigabyte bios is a weird one. But yes i have enabled 3.0.

EDIT: i was just inside my bios, both 2.0, 3.0 and all of the compatibility features are enabled. Things like my small 2gb usb work in all of my usb slots, but my big 1tb external only works in 2.0 slots (The drivers are up to date, as i reinstalled them only 1 hour ago).

Yes, yes, I have a Gigabyte board too in another rig. Do you have the Legacy USB enabled?
It shouldn't make any difference since other USB devices work in your 3.0 ports. If you have a friend with USB 3.0 you might see if the drive works/recognized in it.

I drove it over to my friends house, it works in his 3.0 slots. Ever since i reinstalled windows and built a new computer, this drive has not worked happily. And if i had / knew what legacy usb was, i would tell you if its enabled or not :P

The legacy settings are buried in my Onboard Devices tab, along with the other USB settings. Are you trying the USB ports on the board (back of case), front panel or both?
