    Computer making help

I have been thinking about making a decent laptop as a fun activity to pass the time.
I was hoping the good people of Seven forums could tell me where and what to get the best computer parts from at a decent price.
    My budget is $300.
Here are the specs of my preference:
    2.00 Ghz processor.
150-200 Gigabyte internal hard drive (2.5 inch for laptops, right).
    3-4 Gigabytes of RAM.
15 inch LCD display if possible.
A decent video card at a good price.
I'm counting on you tech experts.
    Thank you for your time!
Please feel free to make any suggestions, tips on how to make a laptop are appreciated. :)

This sounds interesting.....but surely you can only refurbish a laptop, not build one from scratch??

I agree. It is impractical to try and build a new laptop from parts. This is nothing like building a desktop.
By the time you are done it would almost certainly cost more than a pre-built machine with the same specs.

Laptop parts aren't readily available like desktop parts. The main obstacle would be to find an empty laptop case. $300 won't get you there, a monitor to fit a lappy is in the $150 range, battery maybe $75, charger another $40-$75.

The major problem is there are no standard parts except maybe a mobile CPU and many of them are hard soldered to the motherboard by precise machines.

Tiger Direct and Frys are two more popular one. run through them and grab the lowest price, I check Amazon too.
