I know the motherboard spec page says AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb) but that doesn't mean it supports CPU's with a higher than 95 Watt TDP. That means that CPU's in that family with the same requirements should work. I would do more research, or even call or chat with HP and find out before I spent any money.
The default cpu was 2.6 95 watt. The one I have in it us 2.8 125 watt

KBrady is right HP aren't known to use high power components so that would be a great suggestion and just to let you know two types of 965BE 140W TDP and 125W TDP of course you want to shoot for the lower wattage

At a guess I would say that it is being misread, as all x4 630's are 95W,

But you are in luck if you are currently running a under wattage chip it doesn't matter it says your board supports all AM3 CPU'S PhenomII 9xxx 9xxe 8xxx something series http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...c01925562#N546 so you should be fine but if you are running a 710 or 20 there not 125 watts

Here is the list of 95W AM3 CPU's,

AMD Processors for Desktops: AMD Phenom

The only Phenom x4 9xx that are 95W are the; 910, and select 925 and 945 which were at the time much more easily available in the 125W version.
