Succesfully installed windows 7 but no connection error..

I have a Acer Aspire 5742 , I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate. For some odd reason after complete installation there was no network connection. It shows an x under my network . I tired plugging in the Ethernet adapter but nothing happened. I also tried the fn function to turn on the wireless network , but yet again nothing happened. Any idea how I can solve this problem?

Have you checked device manager to see if drivers are installed, if theres a problem with it it will have a yellow caution symbol next to it

You are missing your network drivers, you will need to use another machine and go to your mobo manufacturers website and download them to usb stick or something them you can install them on your machine

    Acer | Download

Select your model and look for LAN driver its about 10MB

When you get the LAN working the other two will probably auto install from windows update but you may need to manually check for updates

The red X means there is no Ethernet cabled connected to the laptop .

Do you need a wireless driver ? Can you show an image of the device manager ?
