USB ports (3.0) no longer working after Windows 7 Re-Install.

Before I begin sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum, please direct me if this is the case or there is a similar thread. I have been looking online and although people have had similar situations I feel a tailored answer would be ideal if possible.

I purchased an Asus N56VM laptop around 7 months ago and recently had to reinstall windows due to an unrelated issue. Although this fixed the problem it presented a new one and now none of my USB ports (all USB 3.0) work. Here is a break down of information which there is a lot and some may be irrelevant, my apologies.

    - Universal Serial Bus Controller on device manager has yellow triangle as well as "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller". Downloading the supposedly correct drivers from the ASUS website has not helped. Uninstalling the broken drivers and then reloading windows simply reinstalls the broken drivers.

    - In the BIOS menu, there are numerous references to USB but none of USB 3.0. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. All of the setting in BIOS related I have checked as "unlock".

    - I have tried updating the chipset to see if that helps which also has no affect on the broken drivers.

    - Unfortunately I am not sure of my motherboard although I have retained the original box but cannot find any mention of the motherboard on it.

In actuality I do not really need the USB ports to work as 3.0 ports. However at the moment even when plugging in a 2.0 mouse, nothing happens. The mouse does not light up, and none of its drivers even attempt to install. The mouse definitely works.

I am aware my computer is under warranty however this is a bit of a pain and would prefer a solution I can do myself.

I will provide more information and pictures if necessary at your request and pray someone can help me!

    Thankyou in advance,
    Squshiest.

Try this driver for your USB 3.0

    Also try the Chipset drivers

    Hey there,

First off thanks for the quick reply sorry I couldn't get back to you.

Unfortunately installing both of these and rebooting has no effect on the problem. The devices in Device manager still have yellow triangles and no USB devices work.

We should have your full model number. You are missing the last 4 digits. It should be something like Asus N56VM-rb71, or similar.

It sounds like you have installed the wrong chipset driver and/or USB 3.0 driver.

    Hi there,

I'm not sure if I am installing the wrong drivers, I am getting them off the ASUS website for my model.

Laptop model is N56VM - S4089V (Think that is the right second part).

I have provided the printscreen of the drivers you requested.

I did download and install those drivers the other day though and it didn't work :/

The driver you see are a result of installing the ones you gave I am pretty sure.

Just tried out the latest driver, unfortunately to no avail!

I checked under device manager and it's still the same problem by the looks of the things. Both the USB 3.0 extensible host controller and both Intel chip-set controllers still do not work.
