Wireless Mouse 5000 Wheel Double Click

My keyboard died so I thought I would try wireless and bought a 5000 series set. I can't find a way to set the wheel to double click as I have with all others I have ever owned. Can this be done? Also people talk about the wheel tilting sideways in videos as well. Is there a function to this? They never mention that part. Lastly there are side buttons that function as forward and back. So far I'm hitting these by accident and they are awkward to use. If I don't get used to them can they be disabled? Thanks

    Mouse and Keyboard Center

I don't know if you loaded the software that came with your hardware. The controls you are mentioning should be available.

But what you really want is "Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center". You will find the needed info at:

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It will work on your Win 7 OS.

Yes, go to the MS download site HammerHead listed and download the Mouse & Keyboard center. MS doesn't ship driver disks with their stuff anymore but this software will allow you to configure the mouse & buttons. I just went through this with a MS Bluetooth Sculpt Touch Mouse.

Correct I did not get a cd with the purchase. After more use I found that the button was configured to double click. However it is so hard to press that it is hard to do so without rotating it slightly and when it rotates slightly it single clicks. If I am careful I can double click press it. Maybe the engineers thought people were accidentally pressing the old buttons when scrolling. I never had this problem, but this new spring seems to be a problem with design to me. Thanks for the info.

Get it replaced mate the thing is obviously not right as I have had a few M$ mice like yours and had nothing but trouble at some stage of the game with them.
Personally I like the M$ keyboards but not the mice. I go with Gigabytes but that is my own preference and wired at that.:)

I have Microsoft 5000 and 3000 and they works just as it should.
You should just do a Windows Update and it might give you what you are looking for. I get all my updates for my Microsoft keyboards and mouses just using Windows Updates.

Try your mouse on a different surface. Shouldn't matter with that mouse but who knows. My 5000 mouse is about 8 ft. away from the computer and I have no problems.

It tracks fine. It's sitting on a mouse pad. It's just the buttons that are a problem, and the fact they made the keyboard too small so I'm always hitting the wrong keys now. I may adjust to both. The mouse is too heavy. I guess since it has big batteries in it. The right and left buttons are too hard to push and make too much noise, and the wheel is 4 times too hard to push, and the side buttons are too easy to push and right in the way so I'm always hitting them by accident and even kind of hard to use if you want to. Yeah basically I think the mouse sucks and the keyboard is just ok. I find it hard to believe it is defective. Springs are not software. Unless the supplier provided incorrect springs, but still, they would all be like that, at least for a certain production run. I think it was just a series or wrong decisions during the design process.

New keyboard and mouse always takes a little getting use to.
Are we talking about the same key board.
My Microsoft 5000 keyboard is 19 in. long and 8 in. wide.
