Have you tried plugging it into a router use it as a Network Printer and then use the Printer IP address in the Address bar of the Browser and see the menus there ?

They offered one that was a OJProK550 but when I ran that it said I didn't have the driver needed and they couldn't help past that. I know it's a major headache for a lot of people using the HP Color LaserJet series. I'll try yours and let you know. I haven't tried to hardwire it yet, mainly because I'm so far from the router (3 offices and a lobby) and will have to make the length of wire needed. That will be my next try though if this doesn't work. Thanks so much for your help.

I downloaded all, the wizard one said my printer wasn't supported, print and scan doctor said everything was fine as did the diagnostics one. No HP Toolbox in any of them. Guess I'm just doomed. It was a good printer. NO More HP for sure. Just became a Dell girl. Thanks again for your help. I will however give the network thing a try but I'm pretty sure it won't help.

HP Toolbox (for my HP2605dn printer) has been missing ever since I upgraded from WinXP to Win7. And even for WinXP it only was usable when the printer was connected via USB. When connected via the network you could "talk to the printer" through it's IP address using any Browser... which were most (but not all) of the functions of HP Toolbox.

For me, I believe the only truly missing function that was uniquely requestable through HP Toolbox that was not available through IP connection was the on-demand "cleaning" function. So if you want to do things such as interrogate ink levels, etc., with Win7 you do need to have the printer connected via TCPIP and Ethernet, rather than via USB. It's really transparent to you, so if this is important to you then that's the only real "semi-workaround" with Win7.

But the "cleaning" function is automatically invoked by the printer when you install new toner cartridges, so even though you can't request it at other times at least it does get invoked periodically and automatically.

For me, I must have the printer connected via USB because I regularly establish remote VPN connections (to customer mainframe computers) which shuts down all other TCPIP network access. So VPN would prevent me from printing if the printer were network connected. And since that's unacceptable to me, I have to connect via USB which is unaffected by VPN... but which unfortunately loses the ability to talk to the printer via IP address.

It's really HP's fault, but I personally never really used or needed HP Toolbox. So for me it's no loss. The printer just "works" via USB, and its panel lights blink if I need to replace a toner cartridge.

Totally inappropriate installation file.

This is for the OfficeJet Pro K5400/K5500 printer. Has nothing to do with the 2600 series laserjet printers.

It "installs", but doesn't even do anything productive like add Start Menu objects so that you can execute something.

Then, when you go to uninstall it (through Control Panel) it explains "although the supported device is not found on your system, do you still want to remove all files?"

Anyway, this tip is unfortunately not what we might be looking for.

HP Toolbox for the 2600 laserjet printers appears to still no longer be available from HP if you've moved on from WinXP, same as it was four years ago when first discovered by us users.

This didn't work for my friend. He gave up and bought a Brother All-In-One for just $50 and he loves it.
Bye-bye HP!
