Losing secondary display signal on full screen

Since yesterday it's been doing that. I recall tweaking some Power Options in the Control Panel in order to let my computer run for longer before going to sleep. I had also set up a screensaver I disabled after.

Now my problem is, if I set up a multiple display on my CP and have it as ''duplicate these displays'', everything seems fine. When I go in full screen mode in a game or anything else, the secondary display gets shut off. I think it may be related to a power saving feature but I'm not sure. I reset the settings to their default value but no luck.

    Windows 7 64-bit SP1
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-D3H F15(latest stable release)
    Intel core i5-3550 3.3GHZ (boost 3.7GHZ)
PowerColor HD Radeon 7950 CrossfireX 925MHZ Boost(Latest stable drivers)
    Corsair HX850 850W Silver Plus
    8GB DDR3 Corsair 1600MHZ

    Display 1: Asus VH242H 23'' 1080p
    Display 2: Panasonic Viera 50'' 1080p

It used to work perfectly even with the CrossfireX set up. Also, if I stay on Windowed mode, it works.

    Hi Juub,

I'm not a gamer but do have dual monitors but on separate GPUs so I can't exactly step through what you are going experiencing. I did, however, do an online search & ran across something that might help.

"It used to work perfectly even with the CrossfireX set up. Also, if I stay on Windowed mode, it works." Post #2 found here mentions to "...Run your primary monitor games in a windowed mode," as you mentioned. He also seems to suggest that games want to run on the primary monitor (perhaps needing more graphic power?) & the second monitor "acts as an extended desktop", which seems to be your case.

You said it worked perfectly before, are you finding this on all games or perhaps a newer one?

It does that on all games. Also, I've seen this thread before. I really think it's related to power management but I've already reset the settings to their default values.

Really odd! Have you tried turning all power management off? Not back to defaults, but completely off.

I found out what it is. It seems CrossfireX doesn't support any DX9/10 game with duplicate display on full screen mode. If I play DX11 games, I don't lose the picture.

Interesting. Glad you found the problem.
