    RAM ?

I am currently using(2x2) 4 GB ddr2 800 I have another (2x1) 2GB of ddr2 800 that I am not using. Would it work to add the spare 2 gb of RAM giving me 6 GB and go with Windows 7 64 bit, or would I need more than the 6 gb I have?

If it's the same type of ram and your slots can be filled, sure but if you don't push your machine that much, your 4 gigs are more than enough.

I use 4 gig, have virtual xp and alll is well.

It should work your board supports up to 8GB. Put one pair in one channel and the other pair in the other channel. Make sure you find the correct slots and it should work.

This is true but I could also go into how it is never a good idea to mix ram, and how they should be the same speed, voltages and timings. Bottom line is try them and see if they play nice together. If you start havng issues then remove them and 4 gigs should be just fine.

If they aren't the same and work, the slower ram will be the default timing.
