USB portable hard drive does not recognize anymore by Windows

My hard drive portable did connect and functionnal on my laptop ASUS.

Suddenly it is not recognized anymore by Windows, it is not displayed in the Computer window Explorer.
The hard drive is not listed in Computer Management\Storage\Disk Management.

At the beginning, the flash drive was getting work after the reboot. But not now.

The hard drive portable is VERBATIM 1TB.

    My OS :
    - Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, SP 1
    - I applied Windows Updates regularly. Last updates installed on 6-Aug-2013.

I did the following check :
    - Connect the portable drive to other PC & LAPTOP. The portable drive is recognized and functional.
    - For the laptop ASUS :
. Connect to other USB port. --> not work.
. In the Event Viewer :
    . Check error in Applications/Microsoft/Windows/DriverFrameWorks-UserMode/Operational
--> oNLY 1 event and the message is "The Driver Manager service started successfully".
. Check error in Windows Logs/Application
--> 1 warning "LMS Service cannot connect to Inter(R) MEI driver
. Check USB Storage Device - Enable in Windows registry
    . In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\USBSTOR , Start value is 3.

    Please help.

Are you using "Safely Remove" when you un-plug it > >
Remove it from the ASUS...power down...plug it in when off and re-boot.

    Hi Patio,

I always using "Safely Remove" when I un-plug the USB flash drive.

I did the following step "Remove it from the ASUS...power down...plug it in when off and re-boot." but the flash drive is still not recognized by Windows.

    Thanks.

Do other USB external storage - Flash drives/HDDs - work normally on your ASUS or does this happen only with the Imation Flash drive?

    OK. Try this.

Since the Verbatim drive works normally on another PC, just plug it in, copy all data ( I presume it is 1GB and not 1TB as mentioned in your first post) and then format it with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool Free Download
(you have to right click on the exe file and run as administrator)

Let me know whether it resolves your problem. ( I am retiring for the day now and can see the results only after another eight hours.)

My hard drive portable Verbatim is 3TB, not 1TB.

I prefer to keep the option of re-format the hard drive as the latest solution.
It's quite weird that only on my laptop ASUS that the hard drive portable does not work.

I am in contact with Verbatim Technical support.
I will post the result when my problem is fixed.

    Thanks all for help.

OK, you have been mentioning it as a flash drive in your posts so far. By flash drive we always mean a pen drive using solid state memory chips.

The HP format utility I mentioned will not deal with USB drives of more than 2 TB capacity.

Please take care to provide the correct information when you post your problem. Otherwise, we will be running around in circles.:)

    I am sorry.
I am used giving the name 'flash drive' for any USB storage.

I did correct the term for my posting.

Thanks for advise and correct me.
