Windows 7 professional SP1 32bit reading only 2.3 GB RAM

    Hello Guys,

I am in a very unusual situation right now. I have a 2 months old Acer E1-571G laptop preloaded with Windows 8 SL and a UEFI BIOS ver 2.15.

Few days back my elder son was playing some game on it & after that my laptop just refused to boot. I tried several options like booting from Alt + F10 recovery and repair/refresh OS but none of that worked for me. I tried reaching out to the local dealer & Acer support over phone several times but didn't got any assistance till date.

Frustrated with all this I went ahead and installed Windows 7 prof SP1 32bit OS by switching UEFI to 'Legacy BIOS' and disabling secure boot. I was not able to install it as the HDD was a GPT disk, so I deleted all the factory partitions and while doing so I accidentally removed the Windows 8 OEM partition.

Right now I have lost my OEM Windows 8 and don't have any backup of it. (stupid of me i know) But the issue I am facing right now is Windows 7 is reading only 2.33 GB of RAM although the total RAM installed is 4 GB. There is no option is BIOS to change anything related to RAM allocation. I have all the latest drivers installed and my device manager looks neat and clean (no issues).

In resource monitor I see 1.7 GB RAM is blocked as 'Hardware Reserved'. Please help me out from this situation.

    Thanks in Advance

    Cheers

A 32 bit OS can only address a little less than 4GB of RAM. Usually 3 to 3.5GB of RAM is available after starting Windows, but depending on hardware and what is used it can be less than 3GB.
