USB Drive Not Initialized and Unallocated

    Hello,

I have an external USB drive with a lot of data on it. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to access the drive because it shows up as "Not Initialized" and "Unallocated" from Disk Management.

I'm attaching a copy of exactly what I see:

When I plug the drive into the USB port, it makes a clicking sound for a few seconds and then it stops. The little light on the drive continues to stay on, but I have no idea what I should try in order to get this fixed.

    Any help is appreciated.

I downloaded GetDataBack after reading some reviews about the software.

Do you think I should continue even after it reports this error?

I just read that it's better to make an image of the failed hard drive if lots of errors like this are encountered. So I'm in the process of doing that now.
