    Checking previously installed hardware logs

    Hi
I was wondering whether or not it is possible to check previously installed hardware on a computer. I believe that my laptop was supposed to come with 4GB of RAM, and as of recently I have noticed it with 2GB. If there is a way to check hardware logs I'd be able to see whether or not it came with 4GB and would be able to check when it vanished.

Otherwise, I submitted it for repairs a while back, and during the duration of the repairs, the computer updated its Windows Experience Index. When does this happen? The repairs involved replacing the keyboard and I'm wondering if a hardware change like this would cause the experience index to automatically retest. If not, then either they ran a test [which is entirely possible, but I'm not sure why they'd need to] or this was caused by the removal of some physical hardware [does that trigger an automatic update?]

This would be really helpful, if you need information regarding the specs of the PC just ask, but the laptop was an Asus VX6s.
    Thanks

    Hi,

If any hardware is removed or added, then Windows Experience Index will inform you that a hardware change
occurred and will ask you to re-run the test, it does not (as far as I know) run itself.

Unfortunately, you cannot check previously installed hardware as once it is removed, it is removed
    completely from the system.

For your motherboard, both 2GB and 4GB come pre-installed, so there is no way of telling.

I had a company who removed 1GB of 2GB installed RAM on my mothers laptop when it
came back from repair, I complained and they replaced the "stolen" module free.

    Hope this answers your query.

    cheers

    Dave

    Damn, thats a shame

I never got the message, so I'm thinking that they may have taken it out and not replaced it, but I don't think i can substantially prove it without a date
Is there any reason they would have initiated a test?

If they removed some RAM the Windows Experience Index would have shown
a hardware change had occurred, so they may have ran the test to cover their tracks, as such.
