    Win 7 64 Bit

    Hi guys,

I am running win 7 rc 32 bit on my dinosaur pc, ( Which is a temporary thing ) and have purchased retail version of Win 7. I want to run the 64 bit version until i get a pc upgrade, and Microsoft's min spec for this is 2 gb of ram. My question is, is anyone running the 64 bit version on 1.5 gb of ram? Or know if this is advisable?

    Many thanks.

I've never run Win7 X64 in 1.5GB of RAM. However, I think it'd run, although you might get more disk swapping than you'd like.

However, the first question is: if your PC is a "dinosaur", does it have a CPU that supports 64 bit instructions?

Later: I neglected to read your system specs. A K8V SE Deluxe is Socket 754. If you have an Athlon CPU, it must be an X64. (I believe that some of the cheaper Sempron CPUs weren't 64 bit, but I think that all Socket 754 Athlons were X64.)

    Thanks for the reply bobkn.

I have a 64 bit processor, so thats no prob. Will prob give it a go then, dont think the drive access thing will be too much of a problem.

    Thanks again.
