    z87 mobo sabertooth , ribbon cable - dvd drive


    well im tired and i must be missing somthing but i dont see any place to plug the ribbon cable in theres also these pci e cables on the hx power pack that have no spaces that i can see to plug in to ( i forget were they go ) but yea im gussing the ribbon cable has been phased out and iv missed that part ? help lol note typing this from my pda

    Most modern motherboards no longer feature legacy connectors such as PATA. You have a couple of choices here. Either use a SATA/PATA bi-directional adapter (probably the cheapest option, but not guaranteed to work correctly), or replace the drive with one that comes with the SATA interface (recommended)

    the drives from 07 i was using it on my win 7 bulid ether way can you direct me to some links for buying both a new drive and the adptor ? would deal exststreme have em ? also i cant power my new PC on the cpu is in firmliy , the power pack is 650 watts if i recall and has been working fine there are also those pci cables just hanging out and i dont recall were they go theres robbly somthing else iv hooked up wrong here could be as simple as the fan lead , it comes on about 3 out of 5 fans try to spin , red light comes on everything gos off yea its late and im probbly not going to work this out with out some help ether way il have to see about fixing the drive ....

    There is a 24 pin power connector and an 8 pin power connector that need to be connected. The PCI power connectors are likely for PCIe video cards.

    lol yep think thats what the pci cables were for , it still shuts off tho so theres somthing else ether a fan cable or somthing ether way way fans spin for a few seconds red light comes on and everything shuts off cept the green light dont have a proper kb to do any serchs for the momemt so a link to the products i was asking about would also help
