Should I Buy a desktop or a laptop? Should I really upgrade now?

One more thing, I'm seriously considering on jumping to 8.1. Using it before it's a much more upgraded version of Windows 8... Can't stand the start screen as it is for now...

One more thing, I did some research and managed to replace the touch pad drivers for a much much better one. Now the pad does not sway when I right or left click and it stabilizes when scrolling with either one or two fingers.

It looks like you are set on a laptop. From your requirements in your first post I gather that you want more speed for video work. For that, a laptop is not the best choice.

You need a lot of CPU muscle for video encoding and the laptop CPUs just don't have that. A desktop with an i7 would be my choice.

I use a Dell XPS8300 with an i7, 8GB of RAM and a Crucial M4 SSD. Video encoding is a breeze - a lot faster than on my laptop with an i5, 6GB of RAM and an OCZ SSD.

Unfortunately I needed to go mobile for this time. I'll be saving to build a desktop for next year or two. For now, this i7 encodes me 5x times faster than the Core 2 Duo I had.
