Computer reboots after the "Windows is starting" screen

    Hi,

I've searched the board, and although I've found some threads about similar issues, I haven't found a solution/fix I haven't tried yet. So here's my problem:

I have an Acer X1700, CPU is E2200, 4 Gigs of RAM and 1 HD WD640 SATA. No hardware has been changed since I've bought it.

What it does now is booting fine, and it goes as far as the animated Windows logo and then, it restarts. And does the same loop again.

I thought it'd be the HD, so I've mounted it on another machine, checked the integrity, and did a clean Windows 7 install. That didn't help.
I've also removed the BIOS battery. And ended up changing it for a brand new one. Still didn't help.
I did test the memory. First with both modules (2G x 2); then one by one. No results either.

The CPU fan is working fine, so I'd assume it's not a power issue but with these machines, you never know. And since it's a mini-tower and relatively old, I don't have an alternate machine to test each component 1 by 1.

Any input/idea at this point would be welcome.

    Hi,

After all, I've changed the RAM and the CPU and that solved the issue.
