Hi skrillek, Does the led light when it's plugged in using the mains adaptor ?:)

Hi skrillek , Buying a new battery wont help then !!!, sounds like you have a dead laptop there , have you tried removing the battery and just running on the adaptor ?

The battery has likely been discharged so long that it's beyond its ability to hold a charge. It may come back to life if you let it charge for a few days, but it will never hold an adequate charge for very long. It should be replaced.

Your CMOS battery likely needs replacement as well.

If the battery doesn't come back to life after a few days of charging, then you may have either a bad charger or charging port. Swap out the charger and try again. Also, inspect the charging port to see if anything doesn't look right.

I think it will come back to life if you replace the main and CMOS batteries.

    Regards

skrillek, The battery is a LI-ON one , messing with these batteries is inadvisable , Have a look here ASUS EEE PC 703 900HA Battery: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories you may or maynot be wasting £30 , Are you sure the netbook's power adaptor is working ? :)

Technically, yes, as someone put them there in the first place. But practically? No, risk of fire\damage, and even if you have the tech knowhow, buying the individual cells will very probably be much more expensive than getting a new complete battery.
