Computer Requirements for Samsung 27" LED SyncMaster S27B350H

Hi Guys,

So I am thinking of upgrading from a Samsung 22" SyncMaster 226BW to a Samsung 27" LED SyncMaster S27B350H. However my Tower is an old 5 -6 yr old one with an

-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
-ASUS P5AD2-E motherboard,
-NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS

Currently, my pc does not respond perfectly with occasional lags when watching movies and in-game. I really just play League of Legends and the requirements are not that high. I am just waiting for the tower to resonably unusable to get a new one. Meanwhlie, I would prefer a new bigger monitor.

My questions are, is my cpu going to handle the new monitor and is the new monitor going to reduce the response time of my pc? Can watching movies and play games create more lags?

Thanks a lot for replying to my post. I understand that my pc is close to be called 'prehistoric' lol, but I currently cannot afford a new pc and wanna hold on a little longer to the current one. Your comments were very interesting and I went on to look for some GPUs in the stores around my area. I am trying to spend as little as possible on the GPU in regards that it has to be more powerful than my current one.

As I am not interested into the dual DVI, I thought the GeForce GT630 could be an option. The other difference is the PCI Express from 3.0 to 2.0. Is it going to make a big difference?

According to newegg you have 1 pcie x16 1.0 Slot. A video card such as a gt8600 would probably best fit your needs, looking at your other specs. If you got something like a gt630, all your other components would bottleneck your gpu and might cause instability. I know that a GT8600 is not a current gen card, but you might be able to buy one used on ebay. That's my 2 cents.

I do understand what you are saying concerning all the other components being slow. However, is there a chance that I use the ones currently on the market? For example, the

- ASUS GT610-SL-1GD3-L 1GB GT610 PCI-E VGA Card or
- ASUS GT620-1GD3-L 1GB GT620 PCI-E VGA Card ?

Those cards will be fine providing your PSU is adequate to power them. Both cards are PCI-E 2.0 will will be backwards compatible with your PCI-E 1.0 slot and will work. Both have HDMI outputs too so connectivity is also fine.

I just checked, my power supply is an Antec 550w output. Do you think its enough?
