Some of my Keyboard Keys are not Responding

Hello! I have a Windows 7 HP Laptop, and the other day I noticed some of my keys (F, J, K, L, :, L Shift, and Space Bar) are being unresponsive. When I touch them down, they go down fully and swiftly, but do not respond on my screen.
Example: I am writing up a paper on word, and when I hit the Space Bar, no space is made.

Because of this issue, I have defaulted to an Onscreen Keyboard, which is very hard to use, as I prefer typing. I have already removed the key caps, battery, and back cover to clean for dust, but nothing was fixed.

If you have a solution, I thank you.

    Hello pbjms,

Prior to the issue, did you recently install any new software or hardware?

In addition to using the onscreen keyboard, have you tried an external USB keyboard?

If issue is not software related. The onboard keyboard may be defective.

First you could try a system restore, go back before the issue appeared.

    System Restore

If system Restore has no effect on keyboard issue, then try sfc /scannow.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Hope this helps,
    John

I only thing I can think of is use a external USP keyboard.
If you have a USB port.
