You have to contact Western Digital, but I doubt they will do anything for you.

You have to contact Western Digital

    We are not Western Digital.

A 3 year old laptop is not recent.

Most western digital drives are 5 years, contact WD to find out the warranty status.

It's my understanding that the individual components of a PC are all placed under the warranty of the PC manufacturer. So when your laptop warranty expired, all coverage expired.

Anyhow, Western Digital now offers only a 2 year warranty on many of their HDD's.
