Laptop Battery 0% avalailable plugged in charging but its not.

    Laptop Battery 0% avalailable plugged in charging but its not.


    I don't know how to fix this one but if i unplug the power the laptop turns off automatically and it's not an OS error i think because i have Windows XP dual booted and that say's the same thing anyone please help.

    how old is the laptop? seems the battery is dead, does it start up if you have the battery out and plugged in? what model of laptop? EDIT: is it the one in your specs?

    Thanks for the response yes it is the same as the spec's went to check if the charger is alright and it is still responding voltage of 19.45 for the charger and its from march 2010 by the way but not used a lot since I usually have it plugged into the wall anyway.

    interesting if you boot for instance a live distro of ubuntu does ubuntu also say it has no battery charging? it could just be a power management issue in windows but its probably your battery has just degraded form being constantly plugged in (that's not good for them, they need to discharge every once and a while to stay healthy). EDIT: forgot xp says the same thing you need a new battery then or the sensor in it for reporting its power level has failed. either way you need a new one it seems, is that one internal? what is the model of your laptop?

    The model number is VPCEB16FG and it's an external battery thank god, I saw on Sony websites prices from $149 but hey they gotta make a business some how don't they.

    actually what model is on the battery it self? EDIT: your battery is > VGP-BPS22 so from google you can find many of them for about 40 bucks even if its not a sony if its the same specs its still good if its a decent brand. is yours 3500mah or 4400mah?

    I think it's the 3500mah cause it only lasted 40min on hgh end gaming.

    and about 1 hour 50 min for word process and browsing is that nomal for this type of battery ?

    I had the same problem until I discovered that it was not charging whilst I was running the OS. Shut off the OS and see whether it charges. But wait a couple of hours to check status.
