How do I upgrade my processor?

I'm not much of a hardware guy. What are the steps to upgrade a processor? Where do I start?

First things first, you need to find out two things.

    1. What processors is your motherboard compatible with.
    2. What socket does your processor use.

#2 should be easily found via CPU-Z and #1 can probably be found on the motherboards Manufacture's website somewhere.

    Upgrading cpu
find out what socket it is
find out what dpu goes in that sockek
find out what ram. bios, heat, and other factors will affect it
make sure psu is big enough
check the specs on the socket and cpu. then CHECK THEM AGAIN
find the best prices and find the return policy for a dead cpu

    Buy it Build it

    I found this site:

I know about the PSU. I need a PSU with enough watts to support the hardware, correct?

Yep, otherwise we'd have problem. What kind of processor are you planning to use (AMD Quad Core 3.0ghz for example)

That's perfect. Would it work with my 220 watt PSU?
