HP Slate 2 Windows 7 Professional Atheros AR6003 Bluetooth

    Hi,

I did a Win7 Pro clean install on a HP Slate 2. Wi-Fi is working but Bluetooth is not. I downloaded the Atheros Bluetooth International driver from HP Support Center and tried to install it several times. But BT just won't start. There's no BT Tray and I can't connect to my cell via BT. I tried an external old USB dongle and it worked immediately. But I want to use the internal device. In the process of trying to solve this, I've installed the HP Connection Manager, I've set the Bluetooth services to automatic start.

    What else can I do?

    Thanks.

On desktops and laptops you can enable or disable the Bluetooth device in BIOS/UEFI.
    You should check that first.
(I have not been able to 'play' with a tablet yet, so I'm not sure on how to get to the settings.)

Thanks for the suggestion. There isn't such an option on the Slate 2 BIOS setup. To enter the Slate 2 tablet BIOS setup you just have to press the button - (which is used to lower the sound level) when it starts to boot.

I found another driver for the Atheros 6003/3012 device, which installs wifi and BT called COMBO. Yesterday, I've tried this driver and it installed successfully, but after a reboot no BT! I am surprised, because I've had so many HP notebooks and never did BT fail this way.

Could be a defective chip. How old is this tablet? Still under warranty?

HW failure is always possible, but HP is usually quite reliable. I am going to investigate further. The tablet is working perfectly. Just BT is not.
