    Corrupt HDD, ran CHKDSK to no avail


    Sometime ago I did I was searching for duplicate files on 2TB HDD. This went on for some time and along the way windows asked me to run CHKDSK on it. I ignored it a few times until I finally let it run and it managed to find some problems and proceeded with necessary fixes. Now computer shows it as 1.7TB free where as before it was quite the opposite at about 300MB free. Now I am able to gain access to the folders but unless I get permission to do so. Windows asks to empty the recycle bin for the HDD because it is corrupt but I never proceed with that because I am afraid it may delete all of the files in the HDD. What should I do? Is there an app for this situation? HDD is a ST320006 41AS.

    Nothing. Only files I intent to delete from other HDDs.

Hi have a laptop running win7 x86 ultimate, been playing up a bit and am trying to run chkdsk but it just won't. have a log file from an sfc scannow, but unsure how to deal with what it says. any help would be appreciated please?

Help. This is the first time I got this message. Also, whenever I try to boot up my pc, it gives me an idle black screen and sometimes, a blue screen. I have not decompressed my disk yet.

I have a 250GB HDD which I have split into two partitions (C and D), recently, my D drive was acting very slow so I decided to do a CHKDSK on startup. It took all day (literally) to the point where I had no option but to hard reset the system. It was checking files which I didn't want anymore at...
