Great advice above. I'm also a fan of Asus motherboards, but some have had good results with the MSI GD-65 Gaming board. For the PSU, I would go with SeaSonic, Corsair, or Antec for quality and warranty. Also, if you haven't ruled it out, I would add in a 120/128GB SSD. If you have to, save money on the fan controller/optical drive to get the SSD. It's absolutely the best piece of hardware you can install in your system.

Pretty much any Z77 Asus motherboard will fit that bill. Most of us on here that do OC do use Asus boards as well, so yeah, I'm sure someone can help you overclock it :)

Many of us on here love the Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard......it's a little pricey, but in my opinion worth every penny.

As for the PSU, the SeaSonic X750 Gold is an excellent option......fully modular, runs cool and quiet, and more than enough power.

Funny as every single mobo for my 8 builds so far except one ASRock has been MSI and though I'm looking for a ITX mobo for a new build and it will be ASUS I've had nothing but good luck with MSI and outstanding service from them as well. It helps that MSI has a major west coast headquarters just 25 miles away.
