    My Passport External Hard Drive Initializing Error

    Hi Everyone!

    So here the problem, I got a Western Digital My Passport 1 TB External Hard Drive with 700 GB of Important Data.

    Guess what? No backup and the Hard Drive is not functioning! ..and I need the Data Back and possibly the drive working too!

    I have tried the drive in several PCs so far (3 Windows XP and 4 Windows 7) the disk is physically working fine (no damage absolutely) it is spinning, lights are on etc. but...

    The Drive does not open. Properties Menu shows - "RAW" and "O Bytes". (See attached Pic)

    Under System Properties and Device Manager shows its there (See Attached Pic) and "The Device is Working Properly";

    The Disc Management is most PC's does not show anything, In some The Disc Management Interface crashes, however in One of the Windows 7 PC (also the same & the last one in which the drive worked) it showed up as "Not Initialized' and also "Unallocated". (see attached Pic) On right clicking to initialize it a message pops up "You must initialize the disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it". However going any further it reads "The Media is write Protected" (see attached pics)

    I dont know what to do next! Will try to open this in linux work? Any other solutions?
