Need Help - External HDD not showing in My Computer

Hi all. Need some help. My WD My Passport SE 1TB light blinks non stop when i connected it to my laptop. the drive does not appear in My Computer but i'm able to see it in Disk Management. the hdd is working fine on my laptop until my wife used it in her office. now i'm facing this.

    1. Pop up when i run Disk Management

    2. When I try to initialize

    3. When i right click Disk 1

i did read up the previous threads with similar problem but none of the methods is working.
i tried using WD's Data Lifeguard to test scan:

    1. Main Page with my ext. hdd shown

    2. Quick Test

    3. Result in 0 sec... which i think it did not scan at all.

    4. Extended Test

    5. Result in 0 sec again

    6. Write Zeros which i did not perform cause it says that all file will be lost.

Also tried Using Minitool Partition Wizard. My ext. hdd drive does not show

With Test Disk. same result my ext hdd drive does not show

really need some help for me to access my files in my ext hdd back. lots of pictures and work stuff from my old laptop are in it. let me know what should i do.

    thanks in advance

    Hi, Welcome to Sevenforums.

You did a lot of checks and that is good.

    Try this,

Click on start --> run --> type regedt32 and click on OK.
( If you are using windows vista or 7 then click on Start --> In search box, type regedt32 and press Enter)
First backup your registry by going to file --> export.
At the left side navigate to this location
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
If you see any upperfilter or lowerfilters at the right side delete it.
    Good Luck

I don't think that is a filter problem That usually only occurs for the optical reader.

I would try to get at the disk with a life Linux CD or a stick and save the files. Then initialize the disk, make a new partition and restore the saved files.

If you have no suitable Linux CD or stick handy, you can use this.

have you tried to do a hardware scan via the device manager to see if windows will detect it at all? If not i would try that and see what happens. If it wont detect it at all; then there is a slight chance as much as i hate to say it; that your ehdd possibly has a hardware glitch internally. Cause generally speaking; as long as the device is plug in play ready; windows should detect it automatically and install the drivers for it. however, if windows wont detect it all and its not showing up; then chances are it may be a hardware glitch of some sort.
