    Firewire Scanner to USB converter?

I have an old Umax Astra 6400 Firewire scanner that is/was super fast but, for some reason, not many of the new mobos accept, come with firewire ports or are compatible with firewire... The Umax did bring a dedicated PCi firewire port card but I have not tried it on my mobo for fear of nuking something there

I have an ASrock Z87 Extreme 6 mobo and according to the specs, it does not bring and/or is not compatible with Firewire ports. The Umax on the other hand only supports firewire and not USB.

Well, I am wondering with today's new technology if there is a way to convert firewire to usb so I can use the scanner with my new rig.

Yes, the easy solution would be to buy a new scanner but that is exactly what I am trying to avoid

So, is there any way I can accomplish this with my Mobo and W7 Ultimate 64 bit? Google did not come up with any solution at all.

If push come to shove, I can make a virtual XP on my W7 so I can install the drivers as I remember having a hellacious time installing even on XP so I doubt it will want to install on W7 64 bit but, if I can't find a solution for the firewire issue, I won't even bother with installation.

Thanks Badger906 for the link, while I appreciated, I was hoping for a more personal opinion on whether this would or could work... I am guessing I am going to have to spend the money to try and test myself.
