Win 7 Pro alters screen frequently

Running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo T520

I've read quite a few posts saying that this doesn't happen for whoever... Well, it happens to me.

As back story, in Win XP Pro I very often slid a window quickly off to one side - almost off the laptop screen - while I made some quick change in another window - then moved it back and went on about my business. I much prefer this over messing around with tabs on such a small screen.

In Win 7 Pro if I slide a window off screen it may stay where I put it or it may pop into full screen and jump right back to front and center. If I hold the left click button and quickly move it back onto the main part of the screen, the full screen version will revert to whatever it was before. During all this, some "frames" (white _outlines only_ of windows on the existing background) appear - where the system is apparently preparing to put the window (full or not) next, based on whether the cursor remains or moves elsewhere - upon which the whole scene of window outlines changes and either disappears or goes to another place onscreen - partial or full.

Of particular note, less (or none) of this happens unless the cursor touches (or nears?) a screen edge.

On a previous version of of Win 7 there was mention of some exotic sounding window software (no I can't remember the name and the computer is down and out) and the theatrics were even more impressive/irritating.

Windows 7 Pro has something unusual going on about screen windows handling. If anyone knows what it is and what can be done about it I'd be thrilled to hear about it. If you have never seen any of this behavior, I hope you won't feel it necessary to post that info here.

Aero Snap

Whew! What a relief. Thanks.

To me, it seems odd that they make default behavior of the very thing that messes around with you the most. But, then, that seems to be the trend nowadays. I saw some software advertised the other day that would go through your whole computer, set it up to be more efficient, remove lots of "superfluous" files and generally reconfigure everything in sight - - WITH ONE CLICK!

Would anybody take that seriously?

When I was programming I was all about user options. Of course even that can be done in a way that goes right over the heads of users. It depends on the "author." The problem is that us old guys can't keep up with the huge piles of hot/new and the young guys can think about nothing else but hot/new. Maybe WW3 run by middle aged guys will change things.

Odd continuation like aero

When I shut down aero, most of the screen interference disappeared, but there is still one effect left and I can't find anything about how to shut it down.

That is, when I drag a window mostly off screen for a quick look at something else, win 7 immediately shoves it right back out there on the screen.

How can I get microsoft's desk jockeys OFF my computer so they leave my settings at _MY_ settings?
