Replacing HDD and scanner can not be installed

    Dear Sirs
I have HP ScanJet 3400C, it has no driver for Windows7, I could get it working by the use of “Troubleshoot compatibility” in Windows7.

Now I purchase a new HDD and reinstall Windows7 ultimate (the same version) and updated Windows.

Before removing my old HDD I ran “Windows easy transfer”
After that, I run “Windows easy transfer” from my new HDD

Then I tried to install my HP ScanJet 3400C driver using the same way of “Troubleshoot compatibility”. However it did not work. When I select “Try recommended settings”, I have to Start the program, but it ends up with nothing, I mean the program does not run and the dialogue ends up by “Incompatible application” detected.

I also set properties of (setup.exe) to Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but the program does not run.

Then I tried Windows XP mode” and I could install HP program but it seems I have another problem in XP Mode.

I have my old HDD intact, so I disconnected new HDD and reinstall old HDD to test the scanner and found it working good.

So please advise if there is a way to collect the needed files from old HDD to be installed on new HDD so my scanner would work again?
    Many thanks in advance
    Best regards

i would go to hp's site and search for the software and/or drivers under the support section. However, depending on how old the scanner is; you might not be able to get the driver and or software for it in which case you may be able to search for it online.

    Thank you for the tip.
I already searched on HP and every where else and the driver is not found.
My question is how to collect the needed files from old HDD to be installed on new HDD so my scanner would work again
