Mouse pointer freezing

My mouse used to work absolutely fine. Now when i connect my mouse to laptop the mouse pointer doesn't move at all, although i can use both the right and left clicks and the mouse wheel as well, they work very good. Also there used to be a red light flashing at the bottom of my mouse now it i can't see it. I have to use my touchpad to move my mouse pointer. I rebooted my laptop many times but that didn't work. Please provide a solution for this problem.

Hello mobilepoker. Welcome to the forum.

Sound like a broken mouse. That red light has to be on to work.

One test you can do is try it in another PC. If it does not work there then that confirms it. Time for a new mouse.

usb mice and windows 7

Hi all, new here and just built a new desktop system with W7 Home Premium SP1 and had the unusual behavior that I've read so much about since I've encountered the same freezing USB wired mouse syndrome. Freezes for about 10 seconds and then the annoying sound that it has been detected AGAIN! and starts to work. My fix was simple as changing from an optical USB wired mouse to an optical PS/2 wired mouse. I believe that Windows 7 just doesn't get along with USB mice just yet and Microsoft should have already fixed the issue with the SP1 version. Hope this helps someone

All of my Windows 7 systems have worked fine with all of my USB mice. I'd put that down to either a dodgy mouse or a problem with the USB port/root hub.

I presume that there are numerous BAD mice and USB ports/root hubs then along with a boat load of motherboards. Even the wireless mice seem to be a problem and it's all over the net if anybody cares to google it. I believe it's a glitch in Windows 7 that hasn't been addressed by Microsoft. I've never encountered this annoying problem with any previous operating systems. I've tried different usb ports (both 2.0 & 3.0)and various suggestions and so called fixes (which were a bigger problem) and even reinstalled. Nothing worked except a PS/2 wired optical mouse.

If it was a glitch in Windows wouldn't everybody be having the same problem?

Not everyone would have the problem but it is a known issue and like I mentioned has been posted all over the web. Just stating my own personal feelings since so many people have similar incidences and I thought my posting (fix) would help someone. I believe it should at the very least be addressed by Microsoft to eliminate any future bumps in the road. For me it was a big disappointment since I ran and rather enjoyed XP Pro since 2002 and waited over a year to upgrade to a newer O/S.

I just purchased a new HP computer with Windows 7 Pro running 64-bit. I also purchased HP's 25" widescreen monitor. It is beautiful. Mouse Pointer
Hello, I have Win7 for about a year now and I really didn't have any problems up until a few months ago. My mouse pointer would start refreshing/flickering every 5 minutes or so and it would slow down anything I was watching or playing at the time. It doesn't really bother me when I watch movies...
