MSI (Micro-Star International) has been in the computer business since 1986. At first, they developed and sold motherboards and graphics cards to other computer manufacturers. (I believe they were the first company to offer a mobo that could be overclocked.) Within a very short time they began building their own brand of computers and they are still one of the world's largest motherboard and graphics card manufacturers. They seem to have a good reputation.

MSI products are fairly expensive so you won't find "average" computer users going out and buying these machines. Here's one website that offers some opinions about MSI computers:

Like with everything else, some people may like MSI while others may have had a bad experience and would never buy another computer from them. But the same could be said for any other computer manufacturer: if someone has a bad experience with Dell, or Sony, or Acer, etc they probably won't give it a good recommendation. I think the final decision will be based on how much money you want to spend.

    Msi gt 70

I own a gaming laptop MSI GT 70. I removed Win 8 and installed Win 7. I prefer it to Dell and HP etc. It was high in price, but I haven't had any trouble with speed or graphics. I am sure there are some users that will give a negative opinion, but I am really satisfied.

I just this minute came from Newegg, looking at their gaming lappys, came here and saw this thread. I have no experience with MSI but have been looking at their machines a lot lately. Impressive power for the money thats for sure. Wondering how they stack up to the Asus ROG line up? Will probably be getting a new machine this year (late spring/early summer) and so far MSI is "in the mix" as it were. Alienware is the only OEM still selling Win7 so I've been looking hard at their offerings too. I've gotten used to having two internal drive bays and don't want to give that up so that is THE narrowing down factor for me.

    Win 7 And MSI

The laptop I purchased came with Win 8. I detest Win 8. Prior to buying I looked around on the web and found on MSI's site all the drivers needed for my model to convert to 7. Now I was restricted to Win 7 Pro for some reason. I didn't dig into that because it took 64 bit, so I was satisfied. All the gadgets on my laptop work. By that I mean lighted keyboard, touchpad etc.
