Cannot Identify this slot.. Need a graphics card for this PC

    Hi,

I have a dell optiplex which I think has a PCI slot but I am unsure if it is a PCI. As the connectors are so different.. I wish to get a low profile graphics. It is a slim line desktop.. Any ideas..

Is this system for use at home or in a office/network setting?

That looks like an APG Pro slot.
It will be difficult finding a new AGP video card today. You might be going to EBay.

You know, I have to second guess myself. That slot has been bothering me.

It is too big to be a typical AGP slot, and even if it were a AGP Pro slot the key is in the wrong place.
It looks like a standard PCI slot, with an extension in the back. I thought it might be PCI-X but the key does not match that spec either.

So now I'm thinking it might be a proprietary slot just for Dell systems.

Where was the video card installed before?

You might look up your service tag number on the Dell website and get the specs on the system and see if they give a clue to the type of video card there.

    Hi Naheed,

Kindly let me know the model number for the optiplex system you have, so I can check the same and let you know the exact specifications of the slot.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.

This seems like one could be a X8 and other one be X16. However, for confirmation kindly let me know the model number so we can provide more information.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

I have an old dell workstation with one of those slots. in mine was a pci adaptor that converts it from a normal vertical pci slot to a horizontal one allowing cards to be fitted in but take up 0 height so can still fit in the same form factor.
