why is this better than a new Core i3?
It is because it has a discrete graphics card.

i cant find a single new 15 inch notebook thats new thats even close to $300 let alone under

This one is number 3. The best one in my opinion, because of the higher spec, it was last a good bit longer, it has a bigger hard drive for more storage and a fast CPU for keeping speedy!
