USB External Drive / Peripherals Issues

Hi, I am having issues with data transfers using a external HDD. My current operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate. I have used the drive on other machines that are not running windows 7 and it operates flawlessly. But when connected to the windows 7 machine I can read the first directory with no issue but then windows stalls when reading subdirectories, or when trying to transfer files to the drive. I then have to restart the machine or reset/power off the external HDD. I have read other posts with people experiencing similar issues. Is Microsoft working on a patch? My Windows 7 machine is a Emachines D620 with 2G of ram.

I would update your chipset drivers and then try the USB device out again

Thanks, I will give that a try, when I get a new drive, since the one I was using was powered off so often when it was stuck transferring files it no longer works.
