USB Mouse keeps cutting out

Hi,

I have searched this forum and many others for solutions to this issue and have tried many of the proposed solutions.

Basically my Logitech G400 (which I have had no issues with on this machine since I got it many months ago) keeps cutting out for a second or two and then comes back. It does this randomly as far as I can tell, sometimes as much as 4-5 times in 10 seconds, sometimes once a minute. Also as far as I can tell it only cuts out while using the mouse (ie moving the mouse, scrolling, clicking buttons) it doesnt cut out if you just leave the mouse still. So far I have tried:

  • Tried the problem mouse on my work PC all day today as well as on another of my home laptops and had no cut outs
  • Tried using the mouse in all of the USB ports
  • Tried using a different mouse (dont get this issue when using a different mouse)
  • Tried uninstalling mouse driver then rebooting
  • Tried running SFC /scannow
  • Tried turning off power management in device manager for all USB ports and USB devices
  • Checked event viewer, no errors relating to the mouse
  • Tried installing newest Intel Management Engine Interface Drivers
So from this I can tell it is not an issue with the mouse itself, it is an issue with this mouse on this machine therefore being a driver/software issue.

I noticed that sometimes when it cuts out several times within a very short period of time one of the "HID-Compliant device" entries in device manager has a yellow exclamation mark next to it momentarily but as soon as the mouse starts working the exclamation mark disappears, I have tried uninstalling this entry and then rebooting but the issue still occurs.

Any help is much appreciated as this is REALLY starting to bug me.

I have that problem with a Logitech wireless mouse on my Recording Studio PC, which is what I have listed in the "My System Specs". I have a Microsoft wireless mouse and I do not have the problems. I have several different Logitech Wireless mice and they are all flakey. I also have a Logitech wireless keyboard and it too is an issue. Along with the wireless Microsoft mouse I mentioned, I also have a Microsoft wireless keyboard and it too works without problems.

The motherboard has been replaced, as I sent it back for warranty repair because of some other problems (and also noted the flakey keyboard/mouse operation). The repaired motherboard (looks like a new board) does the same thing with the Logitech. However, I have a second desktop with an ASUS motherboard and a Lenovo Laptop and the Logitech's work OK with those.

I don't know if this will help but it helped me.

I got rid of Logitech a long time ago just because of such things. They would work here and there and sometimes no where. I got tired of fooling with them and have been using Microsoft mouse and keyboards with no problem.
I never did figure out the problem with Logitech and didn't want to spend the rest of my life looking for the answer.
